Vancouver hosted the North American edition of Web Summit 2025, from May 27 to 30, at the Vancouver Convention Centre. BC Companies such as Kardium, Nimbus Synergies and StarFish Medical showcased the medtech innovation they are working on to improve healthcare efficiency and section transitions in the world of AI, ultimately to support the aging population. Moreover, several startups showcased how they are advancing towards the future of healthcare, exemplifying Vancouver’s commitment to advancing health technology through innovation and collaboration.
A Magnet for Talent and Recruitment
With over 15,000 attendees, including more than 600 investors and 750 startups, Web Summit Vancouver offered unparalleled opportunities for recruitment and talent acquisition. The event’s scale and diversity attracted professionals from various sectors, providing a fertile ground for networking and career advancement. The conference’s startup program, ALPHA, was particularly beneficial for emerging companies seeking to connect with top-tier talent. The Government of Canada, through PacifiCan, has invested $6.6 million to bring Web Summit to Vancouver, underscoring the event’s significance in boosting the local tech ecosystem. This initiative is expected to generate approximately CA$172 million in direct spending and CA$279 million in overall economic impact for British Columbia over three years.
