Vancouver, British Columbia, November 2023 — Quickpath, a venture in incubation at Empowered Startups, is pleased to announce the official launch of its partnership with Edison College for the Health Care Assistant with Co-op Diploma, designed specifically for internationally-trained or foreign-certified healthcare professionals who want to pursue a career in Canada.

Quickpath aims to bring healthcare professionals and/or students to Canada to address shortage of talents and workers in Canadian healthcare, through “education to employment” service. The partnership with Edison College solidifies the thrust of Quickpath to bring internationally-trained health workers who want to build a career in Canada, through the Health Care Assistant (HCA) with Co-op Diploma. This program offers industry-recognized certification to prepare graduates to work in a variety of healthcare settings, and offers up to 67 weeks of paid work placement (Co-op) for maximum hands-on learning of students.
The HCA Diploma program has 30 weeks of academic component, to equip students with necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to function as effective front-line caregivers and members of the healthcare team. The academic part is conducted both online and in-person depending on the course, to ensure effective learning of students.
A licensed HCA professional can expect to earn between $24 – $26 per hour, which translates to $45,500 to $55,000 earnings from full-time work in a year. This profession provides an excellent starting point to a career in Canadian healthcare, and provides one of the best return of investments for a diploma. Ultimately, by studying to become a Health Care Assistant in BC, one can embark on a fulfilling career and make a positive difference in the lives of others, while enjoying a stable and rewarding profession.
